Cabinda é a província mais a norte de Angola. É um enclave que faz fronteira a norte com a República do Congo, a este com a República Democrática do Congo e a oeste com o Oceano Atlàntico.

Cabinda is a province in the north of Angola. It is an enclave bordered to the north by the Republic of Congo, east by the Democratic Republic of Congo and west by the Atlantic Ocean.

Cabinda is divided into four municipalities:

  • Belize
  • Buco Zau
  • Cabinda
  • Cacongo

The capital is the city of Cabinda, known for Tchiowa.

The population is mostly of Bakongo origin and the main language is Ibinda, which divides in the north to Kiombe and in south to Kiwoyo.


This province is very marked by traditions and especially the Bakama people perpetuate them. They are cultural groups with their own sects that appear at festivals with historical painted masks, dressed in dry banana leaves and bring a broom made of palm leaf ribs.

The Maiombe forest is in the popular imagination and is subject to several popular tales and stories of Angolan literature.


The oil industry, the timber industry, agriculture and livestock employ the population of Cabinda, but oil is undoubtedly the sector that flourishes. Even before the discovery of oil, the Portuguese called Cabinda Puerto Rico, due to the natural wealth of the region.


By plane to the provincial airport that has the 2nd largest country lane and receives large and small planes, and by sea, the Commercial Port of Cabinda.


The Forest Reserve Kakongo (Maiombe) covers an area of 650 km2 and is bordered to the north by the Democratic Republic of Congo, to east by Luali river, to the west with inhuca river and south with the junction of the Inhuca and Luali rivers.

The Maiombe forest, called 'vegetable sea' by its impenetrability, is a thick rainforest that dazzles any visitor with its magnificent greens. Rich in precious woods, its fauna consists of gorillas, chimpanzees, elephants and a wide variety of birds, some very rare.

The Swamp Lândana is an appropriate location for bird watching and a sanctuary for pelicans and flamingos.

The Mouth of the river Chiloango, as the river itself along its course, is a tourist attraction for its beauty.

The Sassa-Zau Lagoon, located in Malembo, 30km north of the city of Cabinda, is a natural treasure as still virgin in a tourist point of view. Swimming and fishing are not to be missed.

The Ponds Manenga and Tchúqisse, both in the commune of Massabi, are rich in fish and seafood, given its connection to the ocean, they have lightly salted water yielding an hybrid fishing fauna.


Cabinda offers excellent beaches for watersports and fishing, as on May 10 beach, Lândana, Chinga, Fútila, Malembo, Mandarin, Cabassango and Capelo.

Places to Visit

M'Buco-M'Buadi Cemetery, known for the Cemetery of Cabinda Kings, houses dozens of sculptures that decorate the graves.

Historic Landmark of Simulambuco Treaty. Signed in 1885 between Cabinda princes and kings of Portugal, was marked by the natives with the planting of a tree that still exists today. In 1956 it was erected a standard in concrete.

Other places such as the Ruins of Old Episcopal Cathedral from 16th century, the Lândana Church of the 20th century built next to the Catholic Mission of the Village of Lândana, the People's Palace, the Museum of Cabinda, S.
